of chinese fans

how much of ur race are u?

how do u measure?

isit by a person's

A. mother tongue proficiency
B. mastery of skills
C. day to day routine
D. knowing 1's ancestry cultures / practising them

let me try answer.

A. i can only claim to be able to speak okay mandarin. maybe just enough to ask for directions, create small talk, and survive. but not enough to make mandarin jokes, understand proverbs or give medical advice heheh. of all dialects, mandarin is my best. :S i noe a few hokkien words and even lesser cantonese.

B. i cant dance the chinese dance properly, i dun hav sepet eyes (it's a skill to have sepet eyes!),

but maybe i can still hide in that lion's dance's thingy n make noise..

n i'm pretty sure i can beat those huge drums n clank the gong.. not that hard right.. HAha 4get it actually tink need quite some skill to play those stuff. i dun hav a cheongsam (cant fit in 1 mar. lol) skills required to suck in ur tummy to get the perfect figure in a cheongsam. ahah.

C. still cant figure out what i actually do everyday that's chinese. owh! being kiasu. undeniably oh-so-true heheh...

D. - i only celebrate chinese new year cz its fun. no tea ceremony, (eh wait that's marriage, isit??) , no kneeling with respect to elders, one year i accidentally swept the floor IN FRont of my house IN FROnt of all my neighbours on the 1st day of cny.. whoops.

- but i stil enjoy making dumplings (sumtimes when all 3 of us - my mum, sis n me are at home n feel hardworking. n feel like eating more larr actually.. lol) - cz dumplings sold out thr pretty ex so if make ur own u get tons of them :D,
- tang yuan (the winter fest white and pink flour thingy) and we make it a point to get mooncakes (actually out of gluttony s well) drg mooncake festival. n when we were young (now old redi pai seh) we lighted candles in paper lanterns and carry them round the neighbourhood (terrorising others) dat night. fun times. :P

next question: how much pride for your race can you have without resenting that of another person?

this is debatable. but i shall leave that for minds to ponder. the definition of pride and the causes of racism may not be that related, but i'm sure they sumhow are.

while contemplation ensues... i shall hide behind this majestic artistically crafted chinese fan.
